Hudson Valley Lighting Group | Sperry Wall Sconce

The Sperry Wall Sconce combines architectural restraint with the decorative quality of vertically fluted glass. Its elongated cylindrical glass shade is defined by precise linear ribbing, creating a sophisticated interplay of transparency, texture and warm illumination.

A slim dark bronze-finish backplate provides a strong architectural backdrop, while horizontal metal supports frame the glass with clean, geometric precision. When illuminated, the fluted glass subtly refracts the light source, producing depth and a warm atmospheric glow without overwhelming the surrounding interior.

With its tall, narrow proportions and combination of dark metal and clear textured glass, Sperry has a distinctly modern architectural character with subtle Art Deco and 1970s influences. It works particularly well where lighting needs to contribute to the overall composition of a wall rather than simply provide illumination.

Why You'll Love It

Sperry is particularly effective because of the contrast between its delicate transparent glass and strong architectural metalwork. The vertical fluting gives the shade texture without making the design visually heavy, while the dark bronze framework introduces definition and depth.

Its narrow silhouette also makes it highly versatile. Used individually, it creates an elegant vertical accent; installed as a pair or repeated along a wall, it can establish a sophisticated architectural rhythm.

The exposed light source remains visible through the glass, allowing the sconce to take on a warmer and more atmospheric character when illuminated.

Styling Inspiration

For a 1970s Italian Modernist interior, position a pair of Sperry sconces against dark walnut, smoked oak or richly coloured wall panelling. Combine them with low sculptural furniture, travertine or heavily veined marble and restrained bronze detailing. The elongated glass and dark metal construction complements the period's interest in architectural geometry and luxurious materials.

For an Art Deco-inspired scheme, use Sperry symmetrically on either side of a large mirror, console table or artwork. Introduce dark timber, polished stone and subtle metallic detailing. The strong vertical lines and ribbed glass reference Deco geometry without making the room feel overtly period.

In a Boutique Hotel setting, repeat several sconces along a corridor, entrance hall or lounge wall. Dark wall finishes, upholstered panels and warm ambient lighting will emphasise the sconce's dramatic linear profile and create an intimate hospitality atmosphere.

For a Monochrome Art-Led interior, install Sperry against warm white, charcoal or textured plaster walls beside oversized contemporary artwork. Keep surrounding decoration minimal so the contrast between transparent ribbed glass and dark bronze metal reads as an architectural detail in its own right.
