Sculptural Lounge Chair Elara - Zebra

The Elara Sculptural Lounge Chair is an expressive statement piece where bold pattern meets fluid, architectural form. Fully upholstered in a tactile monochrome fabric, its graphic black-and-ivory pattern follows the chair's sweeping contours, emphasising its dramatic sculptural silhouette.

Rather than relying on a conventional exposed frame, Elara is shaped as a continuous upholstered form. The generously curved back flows into integrated arms and down towards the floor, while the sculpted seat creates an inviting, cocooning profile. Arched openings beneath the arms introduce negative space, preventing the substantial form from feeling visually heavy.

Confident, artistic and deliberately unconventional, Elara sits somewhere between functional seating and collectible design. It is particularly effective as an accent chair in interiors that need one distinctive piece to disrupt an otherwise restrained scheme.

Why You'll Love It

Elara is designed for interiors where the furniture itself contributes to the artwork of the room. Its appeal comes from the tension between soft organic curves and a high-contrast graphic pattern.

The continuous upholstered construction gives the chair an almost moulded quality, while the sweeping arms and arched openings create movement from every viewing angle. The monochrome palette makes the pattern dramatic but surprisingly versatile—it can introduce character without requiring additional colour.

Most importantly, Elara does not disappear into an interior. It is intentionally a hero piece, capable of transforming an empty corner into a considered design moment.

Styling Inspiration

Elara's combination of exaggerated curves, monochrome pattern and unconventional construction points towards Postmodern and 1970s-inspired sculptural design, with a fashion-led contemporary edge.

For a Contemporary Eclectic living room, give the chair space rather than surrounding it with competing patterns. Position it beside a low travertine or lacquered side table, add a sculptural floor lamp and use a large neutral rug beneath. Warm plaster walls, walnut and aged brass will temper the graphic upholstery and make the chair feel curated rather than theatrical.

For a stronger 1970s Revival direction, combine Elara with smoked glass, burl wood, deep chocolate tones and oversized abstract artwork. Its low, flowing silhouette works particularly well with the relaxed proportions and expressive forms associated with the period.

Alternatively, use Elara within a Monochrome Art-Led interior. Pair it with off-white walls, black architectural accents and very restrained furniture, allowing the pattern and silhouette to become the room's primary visual feature. This approach works especially well in a dressing room, bedroom corner or contemporary open-plan living space.
