Ternat Counter Stool – Mid-Century Wooden & Upholstered Counter Chair

The Ternat Counter Stool is a refined expression of Mid-Century Modern design, combining beautifully sculpted wood with soft, textured upholstery to create an elegant and timeless seating piece. With its architectural silhouette, graceful proportions and understated material palette, this designer counter stool brings warmth and sophistication to contemporary kitchens and dining spaces.

Inspired by the craftsmanship and organic forms of classic Scandinavian and mid-century furniture, the Ternat Counter Stool features a slender wooden frame finished in a rich, warm brown tone. Its gently curved armrests flow elegantly into the supporting structure, creating a distinctive silhouette that celebrates the natural beauty of wood.

The generously padded seat and softly rounded backrest are upholstered in a beautifully textured light grey fabric, offering a subtle contrast against the darker timber frame. The compact, oval-shaped backrest introduces a gentle sculptural element, while the open space between the seat and back creates a visually light and balanced design.

Thoughtfully proportioned for elevated counter seating, Ternat features long, tapered wooden legs connected by supportive crossbars, including a convenient footrest for added comfort. Its open-frame construction allows the natural grain and craftsmanship of the wood to remain a defining feature.

Perfectly suited to Mid-Century Modern, Organic Modern, Scandinavian Contemporary and Contemporary Eclectic interiors, the Ternat Counter Stool offers an elegant alternative to conventional upholstered counter chairs.

Whether arranged along a natural stone kitchen island, paired with a beautifully crafted timber breakfast counter or incorporated into a sophisticated open-plan living space, the Ternat Wooden Counter Stool combines timeless design with everyday practicality.

Beautifully Considered Materials

The contrast between warm brown timber and light grey textured upholstery creates a refined, natural aesthetic. The visible wood grain introduces character, while the soft fabric brings warmth and comfort.

Styling Inspiration

Mid-Century Modern Kitchen

Pair the Ternat Counter Stool with a walnut or dark oak kitchen island topped with warm white marble. Introduce opal glass pendant lighting, brushed brass fixtures and subtle geometric details to create a sophisticated mid-century setting. The stool's curved wooden armrests and tapered legs complement the architectural simplicity of classic modernist furniture.

Organic Modern Kitchen

Position Ternat along a travertine or creamy limestone kitchen island, surrounded by warm neutral cabinetry and natural wood finishes. Add sculptural ceramic accessories, soft linen textures and understated lighting to create a calming, beautifully layered interior that celebrates natural materials.

Scandinavian Contemporary Interior

Combine the Ternat Counter Stool with pale oak cabinetry, light stone worktops and a restrained palette of warm whites, soft greys and muted taupe. The contrast between its darker timber frame and light upholstery adds visual depth while maintaining the simplicity associated with Scandinavian design.

Contemporary Eclectic Kitchen

Create an interesting material contrast by pairing Ternat with a richly veined marble island, contemporary sculptural pendant lights and dark bronze or blackened metal accents. Incorporate carefully selected artwork and decorative ceramics to give the space a sophisticated, collected character.

Boutique Hotel Breakfast Bar

Arrange several Ternat Counter Stools along a timber or stone breakfast counter. Complement their sculptural frames with warm ambient lighting, natural stone surfaces and understated brass detailing to create an inviting, design-led hospitality setting.
