Sorrento Coffee Table

The Sorrento Coffee Table is a sophisticated layered design that brings together warm wood tones, sculptural metalwork and richly veined stone. Its composition is defined by two overlapping surfaces: a generously proportioned lower tabletop with softly rounded corners and a smaller elevated stone top that appears to float above it.

The lower surface features a rich brown wood finish framed by a slim metallic edge, while the upper top introduces a striking white marble stone with warm rust and amber veining. Rather than relying on conventional symmetry, the offset arrangement creates depth and movement, allowing the table to change character depending on the viewing angle.

A substantial cylindrical pedestal anchors the composition and reinforces its low, architectural profile. The combination of organic rounded geometry, contrasting materials and an asymmetrical layered construction gives Sorrento a distinctly Contemporary Italian character with subtle references to 1970s Italian Modernism.

Designed as more than a functional surface, Sorrento acts as a central sculptural element within a sophisticated living room.

Why You'll Love It

Sorrento achieves visual impact through composition rather than ornamentation. The elevated stone surface partially overlaps the larger wooden plane, creating the impression of two independent geometric forms floating across one another.

The contrasting surfaces are particularly effective: warm wood gives the piece depth and restraint, while the dramatically veined stone introduces a more expressive focal point. Its low cylindrical base keeps the silhouette grounded and allows the layered tops to remain the dominant visual feature.

The two-level configuration also provides natural zones for styling. Decorative objects can be concentrated on the upper stone section while the larger lower surface remains available for books, drinks or everyday use.

Styling Inspiration

For a 1970s Italian Modernist living room, position Sorrento with a low-profile curved sofa in tobacco, chocolate, camel or warm cream upholstery. Introduce smoked glass lighting, a sculptural lounge chair and restrained bronze detailing. The table's low proportions, cylindrical pedestal and overlapping geometric planes work particularly well with the bold yet luxurious furniture language associated with the period.

For a Contemporary Luxe scheme, pair it with an ivory, taupe or soft stone curved sofa and textured occasional chairs. Use an alabaster or sculptural glass chandelier overhead and keep surrounding accessories minimal. Allow the veined upper surface to provide the strongest decorative pattern within the room.

For a Collectible Contemporary interior, treat Sorrento almost as a functional sculpture. Give it generous negative space and combine it with individually distinctive seating rather than a conventional matching suite. Large-format abstract artwork and architectural lighting will reinforce the table's gallery-like character.

For a Boutique Hotel setting, use Sorrento within a generous lounge arrangement surrounded by curved sofas and occasional chairs. Layer textured upholstery, dark timber wall panelling and warm ambient lighting around it. The contrasting stone and timber surfaces provide enough visual richness for hospitality interiors without requiring excessive accessories.
