Butterfly Ginkgo Frame – Easel

The Michael Aram Butterfly Ginkgo Frame – Easel transforms a treasured photograph into a decorative object inspired by the beauty and movement of nature. Part of the celebrated Butterfly Ginkgo collection, the design draws inspiration from the ginkgo biloba tree and the remarkable resemblance of its fan-shaped leaves to butterflies in flight.

A softly textured silver-tone frame is elevated by sculptural butterflies in warm gold tones, while an organically formed dark branch extends beneath the frame to create an integrated easel-style support. The contrast between silver, gold and dark naturalistic metalwork gives the piece a rich, handcrafted character.

More than a conventional photo frame, Butterfly Ginkgo is conceived as a small piece of functional sculpture. Its intricate botanical detailing makes it particularly suited to consoles, bedside tables, dressing tables, desks and display cabinets where it can be appreciated at close range.

Why You'll Love It

The Butterfly Ginkgo Frame stands apart because the photograph becomes part of a three-dimensional botanical composition rather than simply sitting within a decorative border.

The butterflies appear to settle naturally around the frame and branch, giving the piece a sense of movement and delicacy. The combination of cool silver and warm gold also makes it exceptionally versatile alongside both contemporary and more traditionally layered interiors.

Its sculptural quality means it can be displayed alongside art objects and collectables rather than being treated solely as a photo frame, making it an especially distinctive choice for meaningful photographs.

Styling Inspiration

For a Collectible Contemporary interior, display the Butterfly Ginkgo Frame on a stone or dark timber console alongside a small selection of sculptural objects. Give the piece sufficient negative space so the branch construction and individual butterflies can be appreciated as miniature sculpture.

For a Contemporary Eclectic scheme, layer the frame among art books, ceramics and collected objects on a console or open shelving. Its mixture of silver, gold and organic dark metal makes it particularly effective in interiors that deliberately combine different materials and periods.

In an Art Deco Glamour bedroom or dressing area, position it on a mirrored, lacquered or richly figured bedside table or dressing table. Repeat the warm gold detailing through a lamp, decorative tray or cabinet hardware while allowing the silver frame to introduce a cooler metallic contrast.

For an Elegant Gift Display, use the frame for a wedding photograph, anniversary portrait or important family image and position it on a mantel, console or bedside table. Its butterfly motif and jewellery-like detailing give the piece an appropriately celebratory character without relying on conventional sentimental decoration.
